Kit

Which kit do I need?

  • 90mm universal: for 90mm lenses. It takes the same 16 lens and shutter combinations as the 617C 90mm cone (see the lens table). Lens boards for #0 and #00 shutters are included.
  • Custom, up to 250mm: for any lens up to 250mm that covers 6x12. We build and calibrate the cone and helicoid for your lens, so enter its details when you order. Ships in 1-3 weeks. Longer than 250mm? Contact us about a custom cone.
  • Graflok set: no cone or lens. It turns a 4x5 camera with a Graflok back into a 6x12 roll film camera, with ground glass and format masks.
  • Already own a 612C? Extra cones and pinhole cones are on the accessories page.

Three formats on one roll

Every roll of 120 gives you 6 frames in 6x12 (55 x 120mm), 8 in 6x9 or 12 in 6x6. All three formats are marked on the ground glass, and the masks snap in.

6x12 is the classic 2:1 panorama. Each negative has about 7.6 times the area of a 35mm frame, and the camera is 50mm narrower than the 617C, so it's easier to carry and to hold.

Built for flat film

Both film spools are supported at both ends, so the film tracks straight across the gate. The whole system (body, cone, helicoid and lens board) is parallel to within ±0.07mm, better than the ANSI standard for film holder flatness on similar formats. Every camera ships with a QC certificate showing its own measurements. The body is printed in glass fibre reinforced ABS, which is stable and damps vibration.

Handling

There's a standard 1/4" tripod socket, and three cold shoes on top that are easy to swap for other accessories. The included viewfinder is a simple non-optical finder. A vertical hand grip is available as an add-on for handheld shooting.

Pinhole too

Swap in a 40mm or 75mm pinhole cone for wide panoramas with everything in focus. Pinhole cones can be added to your order above, or found on the 612C accessories page.

  • United States: duties and import fees are included, so there's nothing to pay on delivery.
  • EU, UK and other countries: VAT and import fees are paid on delivery. Contact us if you'd like duties-paid (DDP) shipping; availability varies by country.
  • 30-day returns on stock items. Custom kits are built for your lens and are final sale. Every camera has a 1-year warranty.

The 612C launched alongside the 617C in a successful Kickstarter campaign. If you want the full 6x17 panorama, the 617C is also available.

Built to keep light out

Every part of the body, cone and back meets the next through a light trap, a stepped overlap that light can't find a way around. The camera keeps light out without foam light seals, so there are no seals to wear out or replace.

The film runs along a flat path between spools that are supported at both ends, so it stays flat across the whole frame.
